Anything..... Well almost anything. The scanner acts much like a camera, adjusting the aperture allows the scanner to register all sorts of surfaces (chrome, glossy paint, matte plastic, polished stainless, the list goes on and on.
One material has proved elusive to scan, glass.
The white circles with black rings around them are reflective targets. The scanner uses them to maintain its orientation while it scans. The scanner must see four targets at all times to maintain its orientation.
This means if the part is small we'll place extra targets around the part.
Scan time depends entirely upon the size and complexity of the object. Expect scan time to take 1 hour minimum.
Cleaning the mesh also depends on part size and complexity, but timing also depends on the end use of the model and the reverse engineered details in it.
Our system is 100% portable, all we need is a standard 120V outlet and we can scan anywhere, your place, our place, someplace in the middle, we are flexible.
The main two formats are .STL and .STEP/.STP.
Other formats are available if you want your data in another format, just let us know.
